Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., said Congress should investigate who leaked transcripts of the phone calls between President Donald Trump and two world leaders, The Daily Beast is reporting.

His comments came after The Washington Post on Thursday printed complete transcripts of the president's calls with Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

The transcripts showed exchanges about issues ranging from refugee admissions and the border wall, The Daily Beast noted.

Warner, in an interview with The Daily Beast, maintained the president should be able to have confidential conversations.

"And I think it was disgraceful that those (came out)," said Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

He noted the leak was "reflective of a chaotic White House." However, Warner said it was serious enough for a congressional probe.

"Whether that is Intel or Judicial (committees) looking into it, somebody ought to," he said.
