As President-elect Donald Trump huddles with his White House transition team, his second wife, Marla Maples, is angling to be a UN ambassador, the New York Post's Page Six reports.
The newspaper said Maples is eyeing an assignment somewhere in Africa.
"She has volunteered in Africa and she has taken Tiffany (her daughter with Trump) there recently," the newspaper quotes a source. The actress is said to have been interested in philanthropy for a long time.
Trump will have to call in some favors to get her a post since the president doesn't appoint UN ambassadors, except the actual US ambassador to the UN, the newspaper points out.
CBS News reported Maples was spotted at Trump Tower in New York City on Tuesday, but it was unclear why she was there.
The network news noted she and Trump were married in Dec. 1993, but separated in May 1997 before divorcing in 1999.
