Republicans must continue the progress from passing tax reform to record more achievements in Congress, Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn told Fox News on Tuesday.

Asked about the aggressive agenda for the GOP at the start of the year, Blackburn said that "As we look at this entire bucket of issues, we have to realize that the Republican Party is the majority, and it is time for us to act like the majority party, get these things done, just as we did in tax reform. And that's what people want to see. Getting the government funded in doing that in a responsible way. I would like to see us bring in some spending reductions, so we're looking at the long-term and not just the short term."

Blackburn said that she was interested in working with Democrats on as many issues as possible, including immigration reform and the Dreamers, but she put the emphasis on putting a halt to illegal immigration by "getting that wall, stopping this lottery system for immigration, stopping chain migration, dealing with the issues on the Dreamers."

She added that "we need to make certain that we approach this in a bipartisan way, and it's the responsibility of us as Republicans to bring forward good ideas and to continue these conversations with our constituents and stop illegal entry of drugs, stop the sex trafficking, stop the human trafficking and deal with these issues."

Turning to the economy, Blackburn said it was important to continue growing the economy.

She emphasized that Congress needs to "reduce what government spends, reduce the impact of regulation, address some of the litigations and you do less regulation, less litigation, less taxation."

When those steps are taken, Blackburn said "it is going to equal innovation and job creation. It is a formula that works, you can take it to the bank, and that is exactly what we are seeing happening now."

Regarding the upcoming midterm elections, Blackburn said the current state of the Republican Party "is very vibrant. There are lots of good ideas, and the good thing is the American people are ready for bold ideas and bold moves. They don't want to tweak around the edges. They want us to do the heavy lift and really deliver."

She added that "They are seeing the impact and the progress with tax reform. They're looking at those year-end statements on the 401(k), and everywhere I go, my friends and neighbors are saying, get back to work, get the job done."
