Blackburn Campaign Blasts 'Sexist' Doubters Over Tenn. Senate Race

The Senate campaign of Marsha Blackburn on Tuesday lashed out at "sexist pig" doubters who think the congresswoman cannot win the seat of retiring Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., The Washington Post reported.

Further, the campaign blasted "tired old men" amid reports some Republicans are beseeching Corker to change his mind about retiring, out of fear the Democrats could defeat Blackburn and flip his Senate seat.

Blackburn's campaign was not having it.

"Anyone who thinks Marsha Blackburn can't win a general election is just a plain sexist pig," Blackburn campaign spokeswoman Andrea Bozek told the Post.

Blackburn would most assuredly win the Republican primary to then take on former Tennessee Democratic governor Phil Bredesen.

"She's the best fundraiser in the country and is beating Phil Bredesen in several polls," the spokeswoman told the Post. "We aren't worried about these ego-driven, tired old men. Marsha has spent her whole life fighting people who told her she wasn't good enough, and she will do it again."

The conservative Blackburn is as sure a candidate in Republican circles in a state that President Donald Trump won by 27 points in 2016.

Further, Blackburn has more than $4.5 million cash on hand to breeze through the primary and take on the former two-term governor.

A Corker senior adviser was quoted Sunday "nothing has changed" about the senator's plan to retire.
