The New York Times' article about President Donald Trump's tax records is the "same playbook" that was used against him in his 2016 race, and voters will reject the attempt, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Monday.

"We have seen this play out before, just before the debates," McEnany said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends," labeling the story "inaccurate."

Trump is "focused on the issues and the American people," she said, including bringing back the economy and "breaking through barriers as we aim to get a vaccine" for coronavirus at the "fastest rate in history."

Meanwhile, Trump has prepared for a number of topics for Tuesday night's debate, but his real debate "happens each and every day when he's at the podium taking questions, vicious questions at that, unfair questions from a media that's very biased."

"He's very transparent, unlike Joe Biden, who has been hiding away," said McEnany.

McEnany also defended Trump's pick of Judge Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court and rejected Democrats' arguments that she was being nominated in hopes of ending the Affordable Care Act.

"The president would never ask his nominee to prejudge a case, so he would never ask Amy Coney Barrett or any of his nominees to look at a case and tell him how they would come down," said McEnany. "The Democrats may not be looking at the president's healthcare because they want to deny this is a healthcare president. They don't want to bring to light what happened with Obamacare as facts bear out that under Obamacare from 2013 to 2017 premiums were going up, drug costs were going up."
