Every word in Melania Trump's speech to the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night will be her own, the first lady's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told MSNBC.
Grisham was responding to a question on Tuesday regarding accusations of plagiarism that Melania Trump faced four years ago because a part of her convention speech was very similar to remarks from former first lady Michelle Obama years earlier.
"I think that it's been very, very clear that over the last three and a half years, Mrs. Trump has done nothing but learn and grow in this role and she's been doing a fantastic job at that," Grisham said. "We've been working really hard the last three weeks. I can tell you that every word in the speech is from her. It's very authentic and it's going to come from the heart."
Grisham said the speech would be one of her longer addresses she has given as first lady, describing the remarks as "positive and uplifting."
She added it will be "very forward-looking. She definitely lays out some of the things she wants to do with [her Be Best anti-bullying initiative] in the next four years," adding "she also reflects on some of her favorite moments as first lady . . . and she makes a really good case why it's so important that her husband continue on as our president for the next four years."
The first lady is to deliver the address from the White House Rose Garden, which was recently renovated under her guidance, The Hill reported.
A small audience will attend the event, according to Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh, who added all necessary precautions were being taken due to the coronavirus.
