The lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels says President Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen has several recordings of Trump discussing women who allege to have had affairs with him.
Attorney Michael Avenatti made the claim Friday to MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell after The New York Times reported that Cohen secretly recorded Trump talking about paying Playboy model Karen McDougal before the 2016 election to keep her from going public about a fling they allegedly had.
"I know for a fact that this is not the only tape. I think this is a very serious matter and I think that any or all audio tapes that Michael Cohen has in his possession relating to this president should be released for the public," Avenatti said.
"There's nothing that's stopping Michael Cohen from releasing the audio recordings that he made between him and the president concerning my client, Ms. McDougal, and others."
In a tweet, he added: "If Michael Cohen is a patriot, then ALL of the tapes should be released to the American people. Now. Too much is at stake."
Avenatti's client Stormy Daniels is the blonde adult film actress whom Cohen arranged to pay $130,000 for her silence about an alleged fling with Trump.
He said the FBI obtained the tapes in April during a raid Cohen's home and office as part of a federal probe into his business dealings.
Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani told The New York Times the recording in which McDougal is mentioned is less than two minutes long and shows Trump did nothing wrong.
