Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former attorney who has since become critical of his old boss, has a job offer with a political action committee.

Cohen's lawyer Danya Perry made the revelation in a letter to U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein. Cohen began a three-year prison sentence in May 2019 after he was convicted on tax and fraud charges, although he has been on home confinement for most of the last few months because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The job offer as a political consultant would require him to make media appearances and provide consulting services to the unnamed PAC.

"Mr. Cohen has an employment offer from a political action committee to provide consulting services and media appearances," Perry wrote, The Hill reported. "He has provided the offer letter and details to the [residential reentry center] and is awaiting its response."

Perry added that Cohen is encouraged and expected "to be gainfully employed" by the residential reentry center through which he is serving his sentence at home.

"Mr. Cohen understands that he may not accept this [job offer], or any, employment unless and until it is pre-approved by the RRC," the letter reads. "He has provided the offer letter and details to the RRC and is awaiting its response."

Perry also mentioned that Cohen continues to work on his book that is critical of Trump and his administration, but that in order to meet a timeline to publish it before the November election, "it is necessary for Mr. Cohen to engage in discussions with his editor and publisher as quickly as possible."

Perry's letter closed by asking the court to grant Cohen permission to proceed with the abovementioned actions.
