Former national security adviser Michael Flynn Sr. followed Russian troll accounts on Twitter and retweeted their fake news at least three times in the month leading up to the election, The Daily Beast reports.
In one, three days before the election, Flynn posted a tweet from one of the more prolific troll accounts, tweeting "must be retweeted frequently," the Daily Beast reports.
Twitter later removed the offending fake accounts and tweets.
Flynn's son, Michael Flynn Jr., was an even bigger consumer and propagator of Russian fake news, retweeting troll accounts 47 times, The Daily Beast reported.
Both Flynns helped to propagate the infamous "pizzagate" conspiracy theory that led to a North Carolina man firing shots into a pizza shop in Washington D.C.
Flynn Sr. is under investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller for his role in alleged Russian meddling. He lasted just 24 days as NSA after failing to inform Vice President Mike Pence of a meeting he had with a former Russian ambassador.
