Alan Dershowitz is skeptical that Michael Flynn has a deal with Robert Mueller, saying that the former national security adviser's "credibility is worthless" and is damaged goods.
A guest Tuesday night on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle," the renowned lawyer and professor scoffed at the myriad media reports that Flynn was cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller in exchange for any kind of deal.
"But I don't think special counsel's ready to make a deal yet because it's not clear Flynn has anything to offer," Dershowitz told Ingraham, saying Flynn's "credibility is worthless."
Flynn is "a witness that's been bought, or at least rented," Dershowitz said.
"Any decent defense attorney can shred him by saying, 'He'd sell you his mother; he's trying to save his son, he's trying to save himself. He'll say anything,'" Dershowitz said.
"He'll not only sing, he'll compose and create evidence if he has to do that in order to get a deal. I don't think we're anywhere close to where the media has portrayed Flynn and a deal with Mueller," Dershowitz said.
Dershowitz posited that it's Flynn's lawyer who's behind the reports.
Flynn's lawyer is "offering his client for sale, or at least for rent. What he's saying is, 'He's up for grabs.' If the Trump administration wants him, they can have him. Just give him the pardon."
Short of a pardon, "we're available to make a deal with the special counsel."
Dershowitz also said President Donald Trump's administration is not being "aggressive enough" with Mueller.
"I think the Trump admin ought to be more aggressive challenging the scope of this investigation," Dershowitz said. "This is supposed to be a narrow investigation about whether or not there was illegal, unlawful collusion with Russia. Collusion itself is not a crime.
"But now what they're doing is going after people for what is the equivalent of jaywalking . . . All in an attempt to try to squeeze them into testifying against the Oval Office," Dershowitz said.
