Former New York Mayor and onetime Democrat presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg has written another substantial check to a pro-Democrat super PAC, CNBC reported on Wednesday.
In May, Bloomberg gave $20 million to Palo Alto, California-based Future Forward USA when President Joe Biden was the Democrats' candidate. In July, Bloomberg donated another $10 million to House Majority PAC, the primary super PAC committed to House races.
House Majority PAC President Mike Smith told the outlet, "House Majority PAC is deeply grateful for the long-standing and continued support from Mayor Mike Bloomberg in our efforts to take back the House.
"With American freedoms at stake, Mayor Bloomberg's dedication to Democratic ideals will fuel our work to promote an agenda for working families across America and elect Speaker Hakeem Jeffries next year."
Bloomberg had been a lifelong Democrat until he decided to run for mayor of New York in 2001, when he registered and won as a Republican. He switched back to being a Democrat in 2018 in time for a presidential run but never came close to the nomination.
Also on Wednesday, it was reported that fellow billionaire Timothy Mellon gave $50 million in July to MAGA Inc., a super PAC supporting former President Donald Trump. Mellon has given MAGA Inc. at least $155 million this year, according to financial disclosures filed with the Federal Election Commission.
