Political commentator Mark Halperin declared Hillary Clinton the “loser” of the midterm elections in a “2016 context.”
On Bloomberg Politics’
“All Due Respect” program Wednesday, co-host Halperin said the massive losses of Democrats in the elections puts the party in “disarray.”

“The loser from last night in a 2016 context: Hillary Clinton,” he declared.
“[H]ere's the thing. The party is now in disarray. Hillary Clinton and her team are so cautious, they over-think and over-analyze everything. And this gives them a lot of new complexity to deal with, I just think whatever plan they had about how to proceed after the midterm, a potential announcement, considering whether to even run, it is all thrown up in the air, because no one expected this result they got.”
Halperin said there is one certainty from the disaster, however.
“It means distancing themselves from President Obama, which becomes more complicated, dealing with what the Democratic agenda should be is more complicated, having to figure out if she is a candidate of compromise with the ascendant Republicans,” he said.
“There's just a lot of complexity, and again, this is an organization that has some strengths, but they do not deal well, just as Harry Reid does not deal well with adjustment, this operation does not deal with complexity well.”
Other commentators were equally grim about Clinton’s presidential prognosis in light of the midterm debacle for Democrats.
“America is not happy with Washington, and it is particularly furious with the Obama administration and Democratic-party governance as a whole,”
Slate magazine’s Jim Geraghty wrote.
“Republicans are now governors of 31 states. There really isn’t a way to interpret that as a vast, national yearning for ‘President Hillary Clinton.’ ”
