Republican candidate Dan Sullivan is leading Democratic Sen. Mark Begich in Alaska by a margin of 2.4 percentage points in a roundup of polls, according to
RealClearPolitics.
RCP took the average of six polls conducted between Oct. 1 and Nov. 2 — PPP, Rasmussen Reports, Ivan Moore Research, CBS News/NYT/YouGov, Fox News and CNN/Opinion Research.
Ivan Moore Research was the only poll that had the incumbent ahead, by 6 points. CNN/Opinion Research, on the other hand, had Sullivan leading by 6 points while Rasmussen had him ahead by 5 points.
"Begich started out 2014 as one of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents," says the RCP website. "But he has run a smart campaign, while Republican nominee Dan Sullivan slogged through a tough primary and suffered some gaffes."
Although Sullivan has bounced back, RCP noted that Alaska polling is notoriously inaccurate.
"We likely won't have a good indication who will win this race until the morning after Election Day," says RCP.
