Brzezinski to GOP Leaders: Pull Your Trump Endorsements

 (MSNBC)

"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski Friday begged Republican leaders to pull back their endorsements for GOP nominee Donald Trump, and "do something strong" to keep the New York businessman from becoming president of the United States.

"You need to lead," Brzezinski said on Friday's program, capping off a week of anti-Trump statements on the MSNBC early morning program. "Please don't make me or anyone at this table on television . . . don't make us the ones to tell you. You need to pull your endorsement. You need to do something strong. You need to lead. We are begging you to lead."

Brzezinski compared the Trump campaign to the NBC program "The Biggest Loser."

"This is hurting his business," she said. "Talk about 'The Biggest Loser,' isn't that a show on NBC? He could end up being the biggest loser. He could lose this election huge and his brand could be damaged forever. At this point, that's where he's going. And we haven't been wrong about him so far. I wouldn't mock that, Donald Trump."

Former Republican National Committee Michael Steele admitted to Brzezinski, after she prodded him about whether he was comfortable, as a father, with Trump "having his hands on the nuclear codes," and Steele admitted that as things are, he is "not okay with what I see now," but he'll have a more full assessment by the time November comes.

Brzezinski said the show did predict Trump would win the primary election, but he has not pivoted to "general election behavior," and "it's a scam" because he's not kept his word.

The nation's polls, showing Trump's numbers dropping, are also a "direct reaction" to what Americans are seeing, and "they don't like it," she continued.

Bloomberg Politics co-managing editor Mark Halperin agreed that Trump has had a bad week, and "psychologically" the issues are coming at the "worst possible time," as Democrats are going after the support of elite Republicans and working class white voters, putting Trump on the defensive.

Advertising executive Donny Deutsch, a frequent panelist on the program, commented that he finds it "almost insane" that there are calls for an intervention on Trump's actions so close to the election.

"This is 90 days from this guy having the nuclear codes," Deutsch said. "What if he is president? Where does the intervention come from? I know Donald personally and I like the person. What happened at the two conventions it it stopped being about who they are as candidates."
