Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, has said he would vote yes on a motion to proceed with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's plan to repeal Obamacare now and replace it later, according to CNN political reporter MJ Lee.
MJ Lee noted that an aide provided her with the information, according to a tweet.
CNN congressional correspondent Phil Mattingly added that the aide said the Utah senator would offer support if he was assured that the repeal would be the last one.
CNN's Lee said that the aide acknowledged it was not clear how McConnell, R-Ky., could offer that assurance.
Lee and Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., made a simultaneous announcement Monday night that they would not vote for the Republicans' latest healthcare bill, which basically ended the prospects of the bill passing, according to a CNN report.
"We should not put our stamp of approval on bad policy," Moran said in a statement, according to CNN.
After Lee and Moran's statement, McConnell said late Monday he was looking to revive a bill that would repeal Obamacare with a two-year delay.
On Thursday, Lee compared Obamacare to car insurance, saying no one would like car insurance if they had no tickets or accidents, but had to pay the same amount as those who did.
