CIA Director Mike Pompeo was interviewed by investigators for special counsel Robert Mueller, NBC News is reporting.
The network news attributed its information to people familiar with Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
Pompeo was allegedly asked by President Donald Trump to lean on James Comey, who was then FBI director, to end his investigation into Russian interference, NBC News noted.
It said Pompeo is considered a "peripheral" witness to the Comey firing. Mueller's team has spoken with numerous members of Trump's campaign and White House inner circle, according to the network news.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions was interviewed for hours last week by Mueller's investigators..
