On the eve of the New Hampshire Primary, Vice President Mike Pence tells Newsmax TV he sees little evidence behind Democratic Party claims that some of their presidential candidates are "moderate."
"When you look at the whole field, those people are standing so far on the left side of that debate stage I thought the thing was going to flip over," Pence told Monday's "The Howie Carr Show."
"Their frontrunner here in New Hampshire, it's clearly Bernie Sanders, who's an avowed socialist," he said. "But all of them are embracing socialist policies with Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, open borders, free healthcare for illegal immigrants."
He noted, former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg is calling for the legalization of all drugs.
"I'm with the governor of New Hampshire," Pence said. "He made incredible progress in this state to reduce deaths from opioids about by 20% in the last few years, and you've got the other party that's out there constantly accusing law enforcement of institutional racism and talking about drug legalization."
Pence was on a campaign bus headed to Trump's rally in Manchester. He told Carr, crowds in February of this year seem even more enthused than they were late in the campaign in 2016.
Though reaction to Democrats' recent failed efforts to impeach the president likely have played a part in that enthusiasm, he said, so has Trump's record.
"It's the enthusiasm out here for what the president's done to rebuild our military, revive this economy, to appoint conservatives to our courts," Pence said. "People see promises made, promises kept.
"But I do think at some level endless investigations of partisan impeachment all are the backdrop to how this president has fought and fought every day to deliver for the American people," he added.
