Milton Wolf, a physician and tea party-aligned activist who is challenging Sen. Pat Roberts for the Republican nomination in the Kansas primary, says he is the "next Ted Cruz."
In a new
radio advertisement for Wolf, Kansas Republican Rep. Jim Ryun, chairman of the conservative Madison Project, says, "You see, Milton Wolf is a doctor, not a politician, and they're already calling him the next Ted Cruz," referring to an October article in
The Week magazine questioning whether Wolf was trying to emulate Cruz.
The piece noted that Wolf, a radiologist who also is President Barack Obama's second cousin, has been an outspoken critic of policies such as Obamacare on media outlets including Hannity, Fox & Friends and the Rush Limbaugh Show.
Ryun also points to Wolf's staunchly conservative viewpoint and says, "You wanna drive President Obama crazy? Send Dr. Milton Wolf to the U.S. Senate."
Wolf has frequently criticized Roberts, who was elected to the Senate in 1996, for not doing enough to repeal or replace Obama's healthcare reform law.
