Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that President Donald Trump delivered an "inspirational" speech to Congress — and that "for people not committed to Donald Trump already, he did become presidential tonight."

"People didn't vote for change in Congress," the Kentucky Republican told Wolf Blitzer on CNN. "They wanted somebody to sign the bills we want to pass: repealing and replacing Obamacare, comprehensive tax reform and deregulating America and getting it moving again.

"It was an inspirational speech," McConnell added. "Widely applauded as you can imagine on our side, but greeted with a lot more applause and respect on the other side than I would have anticipated."

He also pledged that Congress would end the Affordable Care Act "in a way that is consistent with many of the things the president recommended.

"We anticipate coming out with a proposal that we all agree on and are trying to sell to our members because we anticipate no Democratic support for this monstrosity.

"They're stuck with it.

"The American people want it, had elections about it," McConnell said of replacing Obamacare. "They're ready for us to tackle this and come up with a better healthcare program."
