Stephen Moore, economist and adviser to President Donald Trump, says the president is “a little grouchy” over the results of the election.
In an interview with John Catsmatidis on his radio show on WABC 770 AM and reported by The Hill ahead of its Sunday airing, Moore nevertheless said he’s optimistic Trump will be reelected despite Joe Biden having won the electoral votes needed to secure victory including in crucial swing state Pennsylvania.
The president has refused to concede and has mounted legal challenges. He has asserted the election results are invalid due to alleged voter fraud.
Moore also predicted the Senate will maintain its GOP majority to act as a check on a Biden administration after a pair of crucial runoff races in Georgia on Jan. 5 between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican incumbent Sen. David Purdue and GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Democrat Raphael Warnock.
As it stands, the Democrats have 48 seats in the upper chamber, while Republicans have 50.
“You’ve got a goalie to protect the net and make sure those pucks don’t fly and we don’t get a major tax increase,” he said.
