Rep. Pelosi Calls on DHS Secretary Nielsen to Resign

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called on Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to resign over the Trump administration's immigration policy and the separation of children from parents coming across the southern border.

.@SecNielsen must resign. This is not an immigration issue, it is a humanitarian issue. Children are being used by the Trump Admin to create leverage, with a goal of passing Trump's anti-immigrant agenda. I struggle to think of anything more barbaric. #FamiliesBelongTogether

Sen. Mazie Horono, D-Hawaii, also called on Nielsen to resign, as well as White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, saying both women "sold their souls."

On Monday, Nielsen defended the immigration policy, tweeting:

We will not apologize for enforcing the laws passed by Congress. We are a nation of laws. We are asking Congress to change the laws.
