Republican lawmakers are "accomplices" to President-elect Donald Trump for not looking into potential ties between his presidential campaign and Russia, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Friday.
Republican Sen. Richard Burr is the chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence and said Thursday his committee will not investigate Trump's alleged relationship with America's Cold War foe. Pelosi, who has criticized Trump several times, was not happy with that decision.
"Leader [Mitch] McConnell is saying the [Senate] Intelligence Committee can do that. Meanwhile, the GOP chair of the Senate Intel Committee, Sen. Burr, announced he will not investigate Russia and the campaign in the U.S.," Pelosi said, reports the Washington Examiner. "That makes Republicans accomplices in my view of President-elect Trump's praise of Putin."
Pelosi and other lawmakers met with FBI Director James Comey Friday in a closed session. She was unable to comment on what was talked about because the information was classified, but she and other Democrats would like the FBI to investigate a dossier that was made public this week, a document that claims Trump has ties to Russia.
