Popular Republican Gov. Chris Sununu holds an 8-point lead on Democrat Molly Kelly 51-43 percent with 5 percent of potential voters undecided in the latest Emerson College poll.
Sununu's re-election campaign can point to high favorability in the poll, as he garnered a favorable view from 60 percent, with just 27 percent viewing him unfavorably. He is a son of former New Hampshire Gov. and White House chief of staff John H. Sununu and younger brother of former Representative and Sen. John E. Sununu.
Kelly is not as widely popular — just 39 percent favorable — even if she is not viewed unfavorably (29 percent).
President Donald Trump is underwater on his own favorability in the state, viewed favorably by 42 percent and unfavorably by 51 percent.
The RealClear Politics analysis gives the state a "leans GOP" and Gov. Sununu polling to a 9.5-point advantage.
Emerson College polled 441 potential voters between Oct. 27-29 with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
