Former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz has joined another former coach, Indiana University's Bobby Knight, in endorsing GOP front-runner Donald Trump for the White House.

Holtz, who like Knight is a legendary sports figure in Indiana and nationwide, announced his endorsement through a video message that was posted on Trump's Twitter account, reports Fox Sports.

In the video message, Holtz said he endorses Trump because "there are nothing but winners in Indiana. The main reason I'm endorsing him is I've played his golf courses, I've stayed in his hotel, he does nothing but go first class in everything. He wants this country to be first class as well."
Holtz is most noted for his decade at Notre Dame between 1986-1996, but also was head coach at the College of William & Mary from 1969-71; North Carolina State University from 1972-1975; the University of Arkansas, 1977-1983; the University of Minnesota from 1984-1985; and the University of South Carolina from 1999-2004, and is revered as the only college football coach leading six different programs to bowl games.

He was also a New York Jets coach for a period of time.

Holtz coached Notre Dame to its last championship in 1988 and like Knight remains a prominent sports figure in the Hoosier state.

Trump, while posting the video message, lauded the former football coach as a "great guy."

The announcement came out a few hours before Trump held a massive campaign announcement at the Century Center in South Bend, Indiana, the city where Notre Dame University is located.

While Holtz is endorsing Trump, he donated $2,300 to Hillary Clinton's campaign in 2008, reports The Daily Beast, but he has not yet donated any money to Trump's campaign.
