Republicans aren't wasting any time with putting an end to Obamacare.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday told reporters that legislation repealing the Affordable Care Act will be the first thing the new Congress tackles, a move that will help President-elect Donald Trump keep true to his campaign promise.

"When we come back Jan. 3 we'll be moving to the Obamacare replacement resolution, the Obamacare repeal resolution will be the first item up in the New Year," McConnell said, according to a report in The Hill.

Trump bashed Obamacare throughout his entire campaign, and promised voters that he would repeal and replace it because of "runaway costs, websites that don't work, greater rationing of care, higher premiums, less competition and fewer choices."

The resolution will not be an easy undertaking as there is a divide among parties and a dispute between Republican lawmakers regarding implementation — something angering Democrats.

"We're certainly not gonna be part of this idea of repeal and put nothing in its place," incoming Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters Tuesday, reported Politico.

Plus, Trump said he still wants to keep certain provisions of the ACA, including providing healthcare for people with pre-existing conditions at no extra cost and, allow people to stay under their parents' healthcare until they are 26.
