Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., must apologize to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for saying he nearly got her "murdered" during the U.S. Capitol riot, according to a letter from Republican lawmakers.

Thirteen fellow Republicans joined Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, who wrote House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., condemning Ocasio-Cortez's comments on Twitter and demanding an apology, per the Daily Caller on Monday.

"We believe this is completely unacceptable behavior for a member of Congress to make this kind of scurrilous charge against another member, in the House or Senate, for simply engaging in speech and debate regarding electors as they interpreted the Constitution," the letter read. "We ask you to call on her to immediately apologize and retract her comments."

On Friday, Roy wrote Pelosi slamming Ocasio-Cortez after she responded to a tweet from Cruz on Thursday.

Cruz had messaged AOC saying he agreed with her that investing app Robinhood needed to explain its decision to block retail investors from purchasing certain stocks.

Ocasio-Cortez answered Cruz by writing he should resign from the Senate and that he almost had her "murdered" during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot by demonstrators protesting the presidential election outcome.

Cruz was among Republicans who objected to Electoral College vote totals.

The Republicans who joined Roy in demanding an apology from Ocasio-Cortez included:
Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo.; Rep. Ted Budd, R-N.C.; Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas;Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C.; Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C.; Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas; Rep. Yvette Herrell, R-N.M.; Rep. Jody Hice, R-Ga.; Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas; Rep. Doug LaMalfa, R-Calif.; Rep. Barry Moore, R-Ala.; Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas; and Rep. Randy Weber, R-Texas.

"Just when we thought @RepAOC had found common ground with @SenTedCruz, she goes and accuses him of attempted murder," Boebert tweeted. "I joined a letter with @RepChipRoy asking @SpeakerPelosi to call for an apology."
