Ohio Republican Lt. Gov. Jon Husted has endorsed former President Donald Trump in the GOP primary race for the 2024 presidential nomination.
Husted made his announcement via a late-morning post on X.
"Joe Biden's reckless policies have weakened America -— especially our economy and our security. In Ohio, we are creating a record number of jobs and have abundant job training opportunities. But many people are still suffering — because of their addiction to drugs and rising crime," Husted wrote on X.
"Biden's out-of-control spending has led to record inflation and made it harder for Ohioans to pay their bills. We need strong leadership to get America back on track. That's why I'm endorsing Donald Trump for President.
"He will secure our borders from the drugs, crime and human trafficking that is plaguing our communities. And he'll rebuild our national economy."
Husted ended his post with a prediction: "Trump has won Ohio twice and he'll win Ohio again in 2024."
The lieutenant governor endorsed Trump despite having close ties to another GOP presidential candidate, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
In October, NBC reported that Ramaswamy met Husted in 2019 through current Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, with whom Ramaswamy attended law school.
