Former Trump aide Omarosa Manigault Newman said Tuesday night that she knowingly and regretfully had been part of a deceitful White House staff.
"I regret that — that I was totally complicit. But I didn’t go in thinking we were gonna lie," Manigault Newman told Trevor Noah on Comedy Central’s "The Daily Show."
"I did have this blind spot, and I was blindly loyal, and I looked like the biggest dummy following this person because I didn’t have the same perspective.
"And sometimes, you have to step back in order to get a clear view. And I recognized that I was going down the wrong path with Trump."
Manigault Newman -- a contestant on "The Apprentice" who was later tapped as Trump’s Director of African-American Outreach before being fired by chief of staff John Kelly, made the comments as she promoted her new memoir, "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House," published by Gallery Books.
Gossip news site TMZ said that although Manigault Newman is under heavy fire from the White House – including the president labeling her a "dog" – she’s "doing a full blitz book tour right now, so you know she's loving the attention, good or bad. As long as it sells ... she's happy."
