Arizona Republican Congressman Paul Gosar ripped into Hispanics after the House voted down a resolution introduced by Democrats to formally condemn him over remarks he made last week prior to the State of the Union, the Washington Examiner reports.
Gosar went on the offensive Tuesday, as he did last week when he suggested that Capitol Police arrest and deport any "illegal aliens" who tried to attend President Donald Trump's SOTU in the company of a Democratic lawmaker.
"This is no more than a political ploy by the Hispanic Caucus to convince their base that illegal aliens deserve the same constitutional rights as legal citizens," Gosar said in a statement to the Examiner.
"Everybody knows that you need to provide a Social Security number to attend the State of the Union, and illegal immigrants don't have that. Either they are sidestepping protocol or they are providing fraudulent Social Security numbers, and neither of those are acceptable," he said.
The House on Tuesday turned away Democrats' resolution to formally condemn Gosar, voting down the measure 231-187.
Gosar also released a statement on Twitter pummeling Democratic Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham for attempting to stifle his free speech.
"I will not be intimidated by her left-wing nonsense and efforts to silence my speech," Gosar wrote.
Further, Gosar clarified that he never mentioned DACA or "Dreamers" last week; he called them "illegal aliens, the actual and correct legal term in our federal law."
