President Donald Trump accused Democrats Monday of putting "junk" into the coronavirus stimulus bill that he signed into law last week.
Trump wrote on Twitter, "Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats delayed the Workers Help/Stimulus Bill by over a week, trying to add real 'junk' into the Bill. Got some bad things, having nothing to do with those affected by the Virus, included. Republicans need their votes until we WIN BACK THE HOUSE IN 2020!"
The Senate passed the bill in the middle of last week, followed by the House Friday afternoon. Trump signed the legislation into law later Friday.
The $2.2 trillion stimulus bill will send checks to many Americans and will offer loans to small- and medium-sized businesses as the country grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic. Also included in the bill, however, is money for the Kennedy Center, National Endowment for the Arts, and a list of items involving sunscreen ingredients, video calls for inmates, and dredging harbors.
