President Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have not spoken with each other since October, a Pelosi spokesman told CNN on Monday.
The spokesman said that the last get-together between the two was on Oct. 16, a meeting that was supposed to be about the president's controversial decisision to withdraw American troops from Syria but was cut short when Democrats walked out after Trump insulted the House speaker, including calling her her a "third-grade politician."
Following that meeting, Democrats accused Trump of having a "meltdown."
The impeachment proceedings against the president have also contributed to the lack of communication between the two.
But even when there were major national security issues, such as the killing of top Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Trump did not give a heads-up to the House speaker regarding the military strikes, breaking the usual protocol.
Pelosi's spokesman made the comment on the eve of the State of the Union address, in which Trump will deliver his speech to Congress and the nation with Pelosi sitting just behind him at the front of the Hosue chamber.
