With President Donald Trump heading to Georgia next Monday night and another potential visit from Vice President Mike Pence on Sunday, "all hands are on deck" as the Jan. 5 runoff races approach, Sen. David Perdue, who is fighting for reelection, said Wednesday.
He also dismissed plans from President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to visit the state to campaign against his and fellow GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler's reelection.
"We've got other members of the first family coming," the Georgia Republican said on Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "We're in a 125-stop bus tour ourselves. In fact, we have our 100th stop tonight in Hiawassee, Georgia, and we're going to make a big deal about that."
As for the Biden/Harris visit, Perdue said that the last time Biden was in the state, "he had 75 people" show up to hear him.
"This is a race to the finish here," said Perdue. "We know that. We're the last line of defense against this radical socialist agenda that they're trying to perpetuate on America."
Perdue is squaring off against Democrat challenger Jon Ossoff, and fellow incumbent Loeffler is running against Democrat Raphael Warnock, in races that will determine partisan control of the Senate.
Perdue also argued that Biden's visit to Georgia just before the November race could have had an effect on the outcome.
"We're in this runoff only because we missed the 50% rule by a few thousand votes," said Perdue. "We know there are some questions about the November election, but we're telling people if you're upset about November, get out and vote."
Meanwhile, Perdue had said on Tuesday he'd vote for the $2,000 COVID-19 relief checks Trump had wanted. Wednesday, he said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's call to add a repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and inquiries into the president's claims of election fraud to the plan are "in line" with what Trump wants.
He also said he doesn't think Trump's insistence that voter fraud came into play in his race in Georgia will affect his own race for the Senate.
