Rep. Pete King said Monday he wants the Democrats' memo on the Russian probe to be released, but there are many items in it that need to be removed before that can happen.
"None of it changes the substance of the memo," the New York Republican and House Intelligence Committee member told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program.
"I want the memo out but there are some indicators in there which would show our enemies how we're tracking them, different methods that we have. But that should be easy to take out without changing the substance of the memo."
King, meanwhile, said he stands behind committee Chairman Devin Nunes' memo, and that there is "nothing in the Democratic memo that disproves anything we've said."
Both show that the Department of Justice and the FBI used the anti-Trump Russia dossier as justification to get a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant, added King, but did not show "any underlying justification for the dossier."
King added that he disagrees with California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff's arguments about President Donald Trump's refusal to declassify the Democratic memo, saying he's misstating the facts.
"The FBI went through the Republican memo with a fine-toothed comb," said King. "They could not find anything that threatened national security. One small issue on identifying sources, they took it out. It had nothing to do with the substance of the memo.
“The memo was released did not have one factual error and did not have any inaccuracy and did not reveal any sources, methods or threaten national security."
The FBI and DOJ did not want the Republican memo to come out, as they disagreed with the conclusion, said King, but 'there was nothing in the memo they could say is inaccurate."
King also said he does not think Schiff is being accurate with his summaries following Intelligence Committee meetings.
"We have had any number of witnesses in before the Intelligence Committee and before you can take your last breath after the interrogation and questioning is over, the Democrats are at the microphone saying how the witness didn't answer questions and was misleading and has to be called back," said King.
"I can tell you, I've been on the committee, listened to all the interviews and major witnesses. I haven't heard one word yet showing collusion. All the Democrats were talking about was all the sources and methods that we were disclosing."
