New York Rep. Peter King underscored his feelings on presidential candidate Ted Cruz Tuesday, saying he would "never vote for" the Texas senator.
Cruz trails Donald Trump in the Republican race for president, but he's hoping to have a big showing in Tuesday's
Wisconsin primary. King, also a Republican, said he has not decided who he'll support for president.
"I can tell you one thing: I would never vote for Ted Cruz," King told CNN, reports
The Hill.
King supported Florida Sen. Marco Rubio before he suspended his campaign last month. The active candidates still jostling for the nomination are Trump, Cruz, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich. Cruz stands the best chance to defeat Trump, although talk in recent days has revolved around another name — House Speaker
Paul Ryan — as the potential nominee.
King blasted Cruz in January after the Texan criticized Trump for having "New York values."
"Memo to Ted Cruz: New York Values are the heroes of 9/11; the cops who fight terror; and the people you ask for campaign donations. Go back under a rock," King
told Politico at the time.
Last week, King defended Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski after he was charged with battery on a reporter for grabbing her arm during a campaign stop.
"I haven't practiced law in a while but I never heard of somebody being charged for touching someone on the arm, unless you're talking about some kind of a sexual thing," King said on "Imus in the Morning," according to
BuzzFeed News.
"When she was on television describing it afterwards, I think she said it was the worst moment in her life, and how terrible it was. I'd be embarrassed to even talk about it."
