Former Vice President Joe Biden holds his advantage over his Democratic primary rivals, but his lead has slipped in new poll results released Wednesday.
Biden was backed by 24 percent of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents in a CNN poll conducted by SSRS, but it was down 5 points from an August survey.
Support also rose slightly for each of the other top five finishers in the CNN poll over last month:
- Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren: 18%, from 14%.
- Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders: 17%, from 15%.
- California Sen. Kamala Harris: 8%, from 5%.
- South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg: 6%, from 5%.
- Former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke: 5%, from 3%.
None of the other 2020 Democratic candidates placed higher than 2 percent in the survey of 1,639 adults conducted Thursday through Monday.
The CNN poll has a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points.
