Fifty-five percent of white suburban women who feel “very safe” in their communities, favor Joe Biden for president, compared to 36% who support President Donald Trump, according to a new SurveyMonkey poll for Axios.
But 42% of white suburban women who don’t feel safe in their communities, favor Trump, while 34% back Biden.
Forty-five percent of white suburban women who say they feel somewhat safe favor Biden compared to 44% who support Trump.
Here are how the poll results, released Thursday, break down:
- 49% of white suburban men who feel “very safe” in their communities, favor Trump, compared to 44% who back Biden.
- 57% of white suburban men who say they feel “somewhat safe” back Trump, while 33% favor Biden.
- 52% of white suburban men who don’t feel safe back Trump, compared to 25% who support Biden.
- 78% of Black Americans support the protests over the killing of George Floyd, compared to 46% of white Americans.
- 38% of Black Americans say they feel “very safe” in the communities where they live, compared to 57% of white Americans.
The poll, conducted Aug. 31-Sept 6, surveyed 35,732 people. The margin of error is plus or minus 1 percentage point.
