Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is leading Nikki Haley by 27 points in her home state of South Carolina, according to a poll released Friday by the Tyson Group.
Trump, coming off a second consecutive win in New Hampshire, has 58% support in South Carolina compared to 31% for Haley, with 11% saying they were unsure, according to the survey.
Trump is plus-62% with conservatives, plus-41% with Republicans, plus-23% with women, plus-15% with independents, and plus-7% with moderate voters, according to the poll, the first major survey in the state since the New Hampshire primary earlier this week. Haley leads Trump among Democrat voters, 49% to 5%.
Trump owns a net favorability of 41% compared to Haley's 23% in the state where she served as governor from 2011-17.
"Donald Trump remains the party's standard bearer," pollster Ryan Tyson wrote in a memo of the survey results.
The South Carolina primary is Feb. 24. Haley has vowed to remain in the race until Super Tuesday on March 5, hoping to gain some momentum with independent voters, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
More than 150 current and former elected officials in South Carolina have endorsed Trump, including Gov. Henry McMaster and Republican Sens. Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham.
The Tyson Group, which polled for Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis before he suspended his campaign, surveyed 543 likely Republican primary voters from Jan 24-26. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 4.4 points.
