President Donald Trump's approval rating was on the rise before his immigration executive orders Friday, nearing 50 percent, according to the latest Politico/Morning Consult poll Wednesday.
The poll revealed 49 percent approval compared to 41 disapproval, which is a marked improvement for President Trump from the latest Gallup poll. There, the president reached 51 percent disapproval by just the start of his second week.
"There could be a mode effect at play like there was during the election," Morning Consult co-founder Kyle Dropp said, referring to his poll's online survey vs. Gallup's live-telephone method. "Additionally, our poll does not yet take into account the reaction to the immigration ban announced this past weekend."
There were claims during the election campaign that voters felt more comfortable revealing support for Trump via online survey vs. a live phone interview. Polls during the campaign claimed a large lead for Democrat Hillary Clinton, but the results of the election proved shockingly otherwise.
President Trump has continued to complain about polls being rigged against him.
Additionally, in the above Politico/Morning Consult survey, 25 percent believe in President Trump's claim of voter fraud, while 44 percent say they do not – and 83 percent were confident in the counting of their vote, while just 14 percent were not.
The Politico/Morning Consult poll was conducted Jan. 26- 28 among 1,991 voters with a margin of error of +/- 2 percent.
