Almost half of voters believe special counsel Robert Mueller will most likely exonerate President Donald Trump this year, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll released Wednesday.
The results:
- 48 percent say it's very or somewhat likely that Trump will be cleared in 2018.
- 37 percent say it's not too likely or not at all likely that Trump will be exonerated.
Fewer than one-third of voters in the poll believe that Trump is likely to leave presidential office in 2018, the poll results said.
- 32 percent said it was very or somewhat likely.
- 56 percent believe it is not too likely or not at all likely.
Voters are split on whether the special counsel probe will indict a member of Trump's family.
- 41 percent say it's at least somewhat likely.
- 46 percent say it is unlikely.
Some voters believe it's possible for Democrats to win control of the House of Representatives:
- 45 percent believe it's possible for Democrats to regain control of the House.
- 38 percent believe it's not too likely or not at all likely.
Voters to rate their approval of Trump's job performance.
- 40 percent strongly disapprove.
- 22 percent strongly approve.
- 22 percent somewhat approve.
- 11 percent somewhat disapprove.
- 5 percent did not know or had no opinion.
The poll was conducted among 1,988 registered voters on Jan. 4-5, with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
