President Donald Trump late Friday pointed out his latest approval rating is at 48 percent, tweeting that "despite the constant and intense fake news" his ratings are at a high point.
"Higher than Election Day and higher than President Obama," Trump said. "Rasmussen was one of the most accurate Election Day polls!"
The tweet appeared to have been posted in response to a Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll on Friday, that showed 48 percent of likely voters approve of the president's job performance, while 50 percent disapprove.
The poll showed that 35 percent of those questioned strongly approve of the way Trump is performing, and 42 percent who strongly disapprove, giving him a presidential approval index rating of -7 points.
Rasmussen posts daily updates on Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
He also posted a tweet ridiculing ABC/Washington Post for a poll that he said was "by far the least accurate one 2 weeks out from the 2016 Election."
"I call it a suppression poll - but by Election Day they brought us, out of shame, to about even," he said. "They will never learn!"
Earlier on Friday, the Washington Post/ABC News poll reported that just 36 percent of voters approved of Trump's performance, tying his all-time low mark.
