President Donald Trump's approval rating fell to a new low of 42 percent in August, with 57 percent disapproving of the job he is doing, according to a Rasmussen Reports full-month survey released Tuesday.
Trump's low mark before this was July, when he had an approval rate of 43 percent. In February, the president was at a high for his time in office, with a 51 percent approval rating.
Other results from the survey include:
- 26 percent of voters strongly approved of the president's job performance in August, while 47 percent strongly disapproved, giving Trump a full-month presidential approval index rating of -21. This matches his lowest approval index to date from last month.
- Among Republicans, 46 percent strongly approved of Trump, down one percentage point from the month before.
- Among Independents, 23 percent strongly approved of the president's performance, while 46 strongly disapproved.
- 73 percent of Democrats strongly disapproved of Trump's job performance as president.
- 55 percent of voters say the presdient is his own worst political enemy.
The monthly numbers in this survey are based on approximately 10,000 interviews each month with likely voters. The margin of sampling error is less than +/- 1 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
Other organizations releasing polls recently have also shown Trump's approval rating is at a record low.
