President Donald Trump's numbers on the economy and his overall approval have dipped, according to a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released Tuesday, The Hill reports.

Fifty-five percent of respondents surveyed still approve of the job Trump is doing on the economy, compared to 59% in the previous survey.

The president's approval rating dipped to 44% after hitting 62% in May.

"Trump's approval is see-sawing along with attitudes towards the economy. When the economic indicators were at a peak, so was his approval rating," Mark Penn, the co-director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, told The Hill. "They set back a bit this month and so did his rating. He still is in this range of 44 to 48 [percent] that we have seen through most of the last two years."

Still, 69% of poll respondents say the economy is strong. Trump's lowest approval marks were on his stewardship of foreign affairs (42%) and administering the government (43%).

The survey comes as Trump and China are in the middle of discussions on a trade deal. Trump over the weekend announced talks with Beijing had resumed with a goal of resuming more open trade and striking tariffs.

The Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll online survey of 2,182 registered voters was conducted from June 26-29.
