Katrina Pierson, an outspoken and controversial member of Donald Trump's presidential campaign team, was at Trump Tower to make her pitch Tuesday for White House press secretary, several outlets reported.
"I'm at Trump Tower because I work here," Pierson said in an email to CNNMoney. "I'm a Senior Advisor for the Trump Transition team. Our meetings are confidential."
Pierson, who served as Trump's national spokeswoman during the campaign, has been a key player in Trump's inner circle. But she has been called out for several false claims during the 2016 election cycle, particularly for saying President Barack Obama launched the war in Afghanistan and Hillary Clinton suffered from a medical condition called dysphasia.
But she is looking for a permanent role in Trump's Cabinet and feels as though she deserves more consideration, a source told CNNMoney.
Pierson, a former congressional candidate, joined Trump's team in November of 2015 and was loosely affiliated with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in the past. She mostly fulfilled broadcast roles during the campaign.
