President-elect Donald Trump is considering a "public-private option" at the Department of Veterans Affairs that would let vets choose whether they want to get care from the VA or from private doctors.

"We think we have to have kind of a . . . public-private option, because some vets love the VA . . . some vets want to go to the VA," a transition official told reporters Wednesday, according to the Washington Examiner.

"So, the idea is to come up with a solution that solves the problem. And it's not the easiest thing in the world, because you've got all these little kingdoms out there, which is hard. You know, in the federal government, it's hard to break things up and start over. So, those are the types of things that people are talking about."

In a report from Trump's Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., during Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight," the group of executives meeting with Trump was said to include those from some of the nation's best hospitals, including Johns Hopkins, the Mayo Clinic, and the Cleveland Clinic.

They included Cleveland Clinic CEO Delos "Toby" Cosgrove, rumored to be under consideration to be Trump's pick for VA secretary, USA Today reported.

Ultimately the group could possibly become a standing advisory committee on veterans healthcare, USA Today reported.
