Rand Paul: John Brennan is 'Bigoted' and 'Sort of Unhinged'

By    |   Wednesday, 18 July 2018 01:20 PM EDT

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., defended President Donald Trump again on Wednesday, attacking former CIA Director John Brennan as "biased, bigoted, over the top, hyperbolic, [and] sort of unhinged."

Brennan said in an interview on Monday, after Trump’s controversial press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, that the president’s conduct was "nothing short of treasonous."

Paul said in an interview on Fox News’ "America’s Newsroom," that it "really is an insult to everything about our government to call the president treasonous because he doesn’t like him."

The senator recalled his attempt to prevent Brennan’s confirmation with a filibuster, and accused the former CIA Director and the former National Intelligence Director, James Clapper, of trying to increase the U.S. intelligence community’s authority to "grab up everyone’s information, including Americans."

"So I don’t really have a lot of respect for these people, even before they decided to go on hating the president," he said, "I dislike these people because they wanted to grab up so much power and use it against the American people."
