Priebus: Comey's Announcement Exposed 'All the Lies' Hillary Told

(Fox News)

The FBI's decision to not file charges against Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server was a good day for presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, because it became clear that "all of the lies" she has told "came crumbling down," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said Wednesday.

"She was exposed as being a liar about so many things in regard to her email [and] classified information," Priebus told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program. "It wasn't a good day, I thought, for the Department of Justice and FBI. I'm sitting there watching James Comey thinking that he was actually reading through the jury instructions of gross negligence, only to find that after he laid out a textbook case for any law student on gross negligence, that in fact, he did a turnabout and said, well he doesn't recommend charges, which is real head-scratcher."

Priebus said he does not understand how FBI Director James Comey could "lay out the case perfectly" for Clinton's "highly unreasonable behavior," and then turn around and say he's not recommending charges for gross negligence.

"You have case after case after case of people fined, sentenced, and court-martialed who have done far less without intent," said Priebus.

And with Clinton "stuck in the ditch politically," that marks a "huge vulnerability" for Democrats, Priebus said.

"You do have to highlight the problems that Hillary Clinton brings to the table," said Priebus. "You have to highlight the positives that Donald Trump and the Republicans bring to the table. We'll be prepared to do that."
