Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is not giving up on the "Republican promise" to repeal and replace Obamacare, even if the party's leadership has.
According to a report in The Hill last month, the subject of repeal was not discussed during a weekend retreat at Camp David for top Republicans.
"If reports are accurate that the GOP leadership in Congress is giving up on the Republican promise to repeal and replace Obamacare with a more efficient healthcare system, then we deserve to lose," Graham — a sponsor of a proposal last year to replace the healthcare law with block grants to states — told The Hill in a statement Thursday.
"I am more determined than ever to move forward with this block grant proposal and deliver health care that works for the American people."
He is not alone: Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told the Washington Examiner last month he, too, wants to try to repeal and replace Obamacare before the midterm elections.
But according to The Hill, the GOP leadership is more interested in bipartisanship in healthcare, including actions to stabilize Obamacare markets and bring down premiums by providing funding known as reinsurance.
