Republican Pollster: Trump Might Try to Invalidate 2018 Midterms

Republican pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson, raised concern Friday that President Donald Trump might attempt to invalidate the 2018 midterm elections.

Anderson made the comment Friday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"I worry that in 2018, when Republicans, if Republicans face large losses — and at this point, a lot of the polling suggests that it is not going to look good for them — if President Trump looks like he is potentially at risk of having a Democratic Congress that may begin to want to pursue impeachment proceedings, do you really begin to see this questioning of the validity of elections, period," she said.

"I don't think that it's likely, but if I'm thinking of a potentially really scary situation, I look at things like what's happening with Roy Moore in Alabama, wondering, is there a chance that sort of world view gets brought national," Anderson said, referring to Moore's claims that his loss in the Alabama Senate race was fraudulent.

The president does not have the ability to invalidate election results, according to a Fox News report.

Anderson critiqued the Fox News post in a tweet, saying it reported "really inaccurately" on her "Morning Joe" segment.

At another point during the interview, she noted an analysis of Twitter mentions by the research and analytics firm Echelon Insights, which she co-founded. The analysis showed that Trump dominated online conversations, she said, according to Fox News.

"When he says he is driving the conversation, he is 100 percent right," Anderson said.
