Left-leaning groups have dropped their voting lawsuit against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the GOP over allegations the party was making it more difficult to vote in the state, a move Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel labeled as a win, Politico reported Sunday.

Democratic super-PAC Priorities USA and other groups instead settled with state officials, agreeing that the state's Secretary of State Laurel Lee would work to inform voters ahead of the November elections about vote-by-mail options and make vote-by-mail request forms available in Spanish.

The groups sought to eliminate state ballot-return deadlines and laws limiting who is permitted to collect vote-by-mail ballots and return them to election offices.

McDaniel said in a statement the announcement “is a win for Florida voters and a win for election integrity. Democrats’ assault on our elections process is not based on fact or reason, which is why they are dismissing every claim in their radical suit.”

Priorities USA Chairman Guy Cecil said "the same Republicans quick to put out empty statements about the life and legacy of Congressman [John] Lewis continue to fight full and fair access to the ballot in Florida and around the country.

"While we hope to reach an agreement with the state of Florida we will continue to explore all of our options to ensure Florida has the tools they need to vote in November, including take the case to trial," he added.
