Santorum: I Want to Stay in Mix for 2016 Presidential Election

Rick Santorum won't say he's running for president in 2016, but does admit he wants to "stay involved in the mix."

His description of why he ran in 2012 and why his thoughts haven't changed certainly makes him sound like a candidate.

"I'm certainly concerned about this [midterm] election upcoming, and have left my options on the table for 2016," Santorum said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto." 

"And if you're going to leave your options on the table, you've got to get around and see people," he said Tuesday.

Guest host Stuart Varney pressed Santorum, who won the 2012 GOP Iowa Caucuses, about a planned trip to New Hampshire. Santorum acknowledged he is going there next month, and to Iowa as well.

Santorum signaled a likelihood to run again, telling Varney that he got into the race in 2012 to challenge Obamacare. The healthcare law is hurting people, he said, and it will continue to be the main issue in 2016.

In addition to its causing economic pain, Santorum, a Roman Catholic, says he also worries about the law's impact on religious freedom, personal choice "and taking care of those that are the least among us."
